Mika Lemoine

Hi, I’m Mika. My work with Momentum centers on supporting clients as they unpack and explore the ways in which DEIA concepts impact them both personally and professionally. You will see me most often in social justice wellness and affinity spaces.

Hailing from Oakland, California (Ohlone Land) I am a queer/white/femme artist, educator, and ever-learning accomplice. I was a Teaching Artist Mentor at Destiny Arts Center from 2010 to 2020, where I taught Hip-hop and Street Dance to young people in their school, community, and center based programs while supporting emerging teaching artists and writing curriculum. I directed the Destiny Junior Company (DJC) where performers ages 9-12 use their powerful voices to make art about what matters to them. I toured with Contra Tiempo Urban Latin Dance Theater (LA), Versastyle Dance Company (LA), and Embodiment Project (SF). I currently perform with Mix’d Ingrdnt’s (Oakland), the Kendra Kimbrough Dance Ensemble (Oakland), and in 2017 co-founded See Through Soul, an Oakland-grown dance company that utilizes dance to heal and seek truth.

I hold a BA in Dance from UCLA’s department of World Arts and Cultures. My superpower is my sensitivity, which I use to listen deeply, move slowly, and empathize; nurture conversations and creative approaches to looking at whiteness, unlearning anti-Blackness, and doing antiracism work.
